Gillian McDonald Producing Gorgeous Countrysides in Watercolour.

Having been born in Scotland and later married there I have a great love of Scotlands countryside. The quote Absence makes the heart grow fonder is a saying I fully empathise with and it wasn’t until later that I was searching about our areas gallery that I saw the work of Gillian McDonald a painter that is truly skilled in capturing the feel of gorgeous countryside.

Her beautiful pictures are amazing capturing the nature of the countryside but nestle in buildings that have a security and solitude which gives the feel of untouched places. Gillian McDonald learnt her art at the London college of art but focused her joy for the medium of water colour in Indonesia. She is renowned for her fantastic use of colour which really pulls out the feel of the subject she is trying to portray.

It was really nice to see the stunning crags of Ben More in the background with buildings placed in the comfortable and sweeping landscape spread out In front of it. I enjoy the fact that in Gillian McDonalds pictures you frequently discover detail in a flower or blade of grass that ties In brilliantly with other parts of the image. I understand that Gillian McDonald herself is an avid gardener and walker, often walking different areas of the country looking for her next picture to paint.

I believe Gillian McDonald now resides in Wales where she produces her work focusing on her water colours and producing pictures that are loved the world over.
